This sporadic blog is for friends who might want to dip in occasionally and see what’s shaking. Or try jubilating themselves.
What’s jubilating?
Taken from the Spanish word jubilación (retirement), with origins in the Latin term jubilatio (rejoicing), it conjures a more upbeat image than the word retire. And it’s what we hope this next chapter of our life will be like.
For those who don’t know us, we’re a relatively eccentric couple, who still like each other. We’re in our early 60’s, relatively full of piss and vinegar. We watched our parents grow old, put our daughter through college, then we downsized big-time. Sold our house, cars, got rid of most of our stuff. And, for the most part,we stopped work. We are not rich, but we’ve had some luck, worked hard and been frugal.
Now, with no overhead, a kid who is self-supporting, and our one remaining parent left well-tended until our return, we’re hitting the road for 7 months.
And then? We’re gonna try living in San Miguel, Mexico, where we’ve visited for many years. (And near to where my husband grew up.) We’ll see.
